Our Goals
The STRIPES2021 project’s main goals were to support teachers and educators in the improvement of their interdisciplinary modules within different programs. Further, to create an interdisciplinary toolkit that other design teams and educational advisors can use. STRIPES2021 aimed to contribute to capacity building with regard to the scholarship of teaching and learning. Through active involvement teachers, student members and educational advisors will upgrade their skills (Clarke & Hollingsworth, 2002; Gast, 2018). Staff members can opt to qualify for a (senior) university teaching qualification (BKO/SKO) while participating in STRIPES2021. By the end of the project we want to have achieved the following:
- Support teachers to improve their Interdisciplinary Modules.
- Create of an Interdisciplinary ‘Toolbox’ for educators and staff, comprising of:
- Tried and tested teamwork resources, to support students’ interdisciplinary teamwork;
- A range of learning activities that stimulate interdisciplinary practice;
- Guidance in the fundamental of designing and planning for interdisciplinary education;
- A selection of ‘must read’ literature to direct teachers in their foundational knowledge; and
- A variety of assessment options.
- An assembled collection of ‘Best Practice’ examples:
- At the UT; and
- Internationally.
- Provided scope for students, researchers and educators to enhance their own learning and development.
Comenius Grant
The Comenius Programme supports innovation and professional development of educators, thereby improving education for students and education as a whole. The Comenius Programme comes under the wing of National Regiorgaan Onderwijonderzoek (NRO) which in itself, is a unit of the Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek (NWO).
The STRIPES2021 project was allocated under a “Leadership Fellow” Comenius Grant; automatically connecting the project to the Comenius Network where “the entire Higher Education sector will be able to benefit from innovations achieved with the support of the programme.” Multiple opportunities to share knowledge and experiences have been facilitated via Comenius festivals as well as 4TU Federation.
